I think everybody will join me in saying what a
great opening set Danny Kyle provided for us
last Friday....wonderful original numbers which showed both virtuosity &
creativity....thanks Danny.
Only 6 days before I collect Toby from Heathrow after which he will
subject me to three weeks of humiliating put-downs, insults &
contempt.....but what are friends for?
This next gig at the club is truly going to be
a feast of outstanding music....most of you will be familiar with both
acts...Toby is simply one of the most entertaining musicians on the World scene,
he's played with (I mean played with not just been an unknown support) the likes
of John Hammond, J.J.Cale, Chris Smither & Woody
Mann & is included in a new CD featuring Taj Mahal & Ry Cooder this
is World Class stuff.
The Two Timers
are considered by many to be the
best duo act in Britain & usually headline but they're old friends &
have kindly agreed to open for Toby.....do check out the web links I give you as
there are excellent sound-bites on their
sites.
Toby's first gig of this tour....to launch his latest
CD "Toby Walker Plays Well With Others" (which I've had a sneak preview of....superb!).....kicks off at
Oranges, Ashford ~ 01233 621004 on Monday 27th Feb where he'll do a full show. Oranges is a
great venue, a wine bar where the Capo di Tutti Capo rules with a rod of
iron...no talking here when the artists are performing or you incur the wrath of
Stuart... afor mentioned CDTC!! I'll be there as will many club
members.
Toby's full tour schedule is on-site.....TABLES STILL
AVAILABLE FOR OUR TUES GIG.....Remember we are now non-smoking at both
venues....but it's only a few steps outside where you can have a puff if need
be.
Music will start at 8:45pm so try to get there in
time...you don't want to miss anything this
night.
